How the bill works

No small print. Here's all of it.

What counts as an email

Each recipient Amazon SES accepts, transactional included. Tests to your own verified addresses are free. Suppressed and rejected addresses are never sent to, so never billed.

Your spend cap

Set a hard monthly cap. Broadcasts and sequences pause when you reach it. Password resets and receipts keep going so nothing breaks, and we email you at 80% and 100%.

Annual billing

Two months free: $90 a year for the base, which still includes 12,000 emails every month. Any extra emails are billed monthly.

Taxes

Prices are in USD and exclude VAT and sales tax, which are added at checkout where they apply.

Worked examples

A weekly newsletter, at every size.

Four emails to each contact a month. Up to about 3,000 contacts, the $9 covers it.

Pricing questions

Straight answers.

Why per email instead of per contact?

Because that's how sending actually costs money. Amazon SES charges per email, so our price follows our cost. You can keep everyone you've ever collected without paying for them, and you only pay when you send.

Will the price go up?

The formula is published and tied to what sending costs us. Design partners in the pilot keep their launch price for life.

What happens if I send a lot one month?

You pay $0.75 per 1,000 emails over 12,000, billed at the end of the month. If you'd rather not, set a spend cap and sending pauses when you hit it.

Is transactional email billed separately?

No. Receipts, password resets and alerts share the same meter. They travel on a separate delivery stream, so campaigns never slow them down.

Do unsubscribed contacts cost anything?

No contact costs anything. Unsubscribed and bounced addresses are suppressed, which means they're never sent to and never billed.
